Hey Sean, i just want to tell you how much i love your advice and videos, i bought my own bow and your channel helps me to understand my bow and to shoot more accurately so i just want you to know your videos help alot of beginners. Much love and keep on with the good vids.
Thanks so much! I’m glad my videos help. Gif bless you
WOW! I cannot tell you how glad I am I came across this video. Saved me the money of having to go and get the bow restrung at a pro shop. Nothing against pro shops, but I'm a DIY'er. Being new to archery, I committed the cardinal sin of dry firing my compound bow and yes, things went sideways. But thanks to this video, I got the bow restrung, tuned in and sighted near perfect and she's shooting true now. THANK YOU!
Awesome! I’m so glad I was able to help! God bless you
Sean are you still using this system?
Not really. I got the stuff to try SRT climbing the year after just to give it a try and I was hooked on it. It’s easier and since it’s just ropes and no metal it’s even easier to pack up and carry. I just set a piece of cordage at the tree during the summer that I intend to use during hunting season and pull then my climbing rope over the limb when I get there to hunt. I fly right up the rope and repel down when finished.
I love my BOWTECH solution SS I’m taking it on a spring bear hunt next year but I’m wondering how much draw weight would you go with If you were to do on a bear hunt I also have 60lbs limbs I’m thinking 55lbs should be good
I’d use a fixed blade broadhead that’s razor blade to the tip for maximum penetration
Viva Cristo Rey 🙏🏾
AMEN!
They just issued a new Statement saying the ban on cell cams has been put on hold. No changes will apply to the upcoming season regarding cell cams, as the Iowa DNR seeks more input from the public on this issue.
Yeah, that is what I heard.
A UA-cam channel called “peppermintone” is reposting your video of “big 3 vs thundercat”
Thanks . I will look into that. God bless you
Hi Sean, I will still follow your videos as ive always enjoyed learning about different bows etc, They've been very helpful and also it's nice how you spread the word also ! Amen & God Bless, You and your Family from NZ.
Thanks, God bless you and yours as well!
By the way dragon X8 comes only 0-60lbs , 29" draw lenght. Confusion.😵😵😵
They make one model with 60 pound max limbs and one model with 70 pound max limbs
Interesting that I have a problem now on alleyexpress. You talk about 31" draw lenght and its caracteristic for dragon X9. Dragon X8 is smaller up to 29" draw lenght and when I ask for 70lbs 31" they want extra money because it's costumization.
I looked a long time for this type of video. Thanks so much.
Thanks! God bless you
I bought the Elite Ritual 35 used..... my Mathews is nw for sale.....it is a dandy bow
👍
Thanks for the video. During your remediation days did a lot of the basements have pressure treated lumber on sill gaskets? I've seen numerous videos of foam board against the concrete wall followed by pressure treated lumber (on top of a sill gasket) with wood 2x4's against the foam board. Have you encountered jobs that had mold issues stemming from this approach? I'm redoing my basement due to mold issues from previous owners..
No, I did not see those types of constructions. If there is some kind of sealant painted on the foundation wall, that would be a very bad method because you’re trapping moisture against that sealant. It’s only a matter of time before it breaks down enough to begin to grow mold on it. In addition, I have seen pressure-treated lumber with mold growing all over it. Just because it’s pressure-treated doesn’t mean it is mold resistant.. Once there is mold, it can let spore out into the air, which is ultimately what makes people sick.
@@seansoutdoors Thanks for the reply.
@@seansoutdoors Thanks for the reply. No sealant, just a plain old concrete wall with rigid foam board on it with the idea to prevent condensation. The framing then has a pink sill gasket to separate the concrete and pressure treated lumber, and normal framing is above that. They didn't leave any air gap however. My house was remodeled about 15-20 years ago and has mild mold growth. They mainly just threw 2x4's directly onto the concrete and had door framing end grains directly touching the concrete.. Given that I was contemplating if the above method would be sufficient (plus I recently regraded so that water won't flow towards the house). I'm still deciding but my only concern with the metal was door drywall edging was metal and rusted at the bottom. This made me think the rust was caused by condensation on the cold metal from touching the cold concrete which would more likely help mold grow so I was originally going to skip metal all together. That may not be the case though after watching your video. Either way thanks for the info!
How on earth is the state going to enforce this ban? Do they have any idea just how low the compliance rate will be?
Honor system.
I haven’t been on a skateboard since I was 13 lol 😂😂😂
Lol I feel ya
I can’t wait too see your elk video if you make one 🎉❤
Thanks. Didn’t draw a tag this year so hopefully next year
Welcome to Iowa! Joe's is a neat place btw!
Thanks. This year is our sixth anniversary of being here!
I’m new and just purchased a cruzer g3. Do you know if it’s different than the g2 at all? Better worse? Thanks for your vids
I have not looked at one yet so I’m not sure. I will keep an eye out for one and try to do a video at some point
Hi Sean, I've got the x8..and i cant seem to get the cam timings right..no matter whay I do...the bottom cam is always ahead by a quarter inch or more...if i twist the cable..the top cam is quarter inches ahead...is that normal for this bow? What do I need to check...really appreciate any guidance I can get
If bottom cam is hitting first, look at the top cam and see if it’s leaning a little to one side. If it is, add a half twist to one side to straighten it. If there is no lean, just pick a side and put a half twist in only one yoke. This will help move the cam timing in smaller increments. If that still doesn’t solve it for you, there is an aftermarket solution that is like a little hour glass shaped piece that goes into the cable to essentially shorten it in very small increments. Tournament archers use them to fine tune their bows but I forget the name of it. Lancaster Archery sells them.
@@seansoutdoors that worked! But I'm noticing another issue, so it like...holding the bow steady and pulling back, now sometimes the top cam touches first or sometimes the bottom...the lead is approx 1/6 of an inch
Actually, after sometime.. without even shooting..the bottom cam is advanced to quarter of an inch
It is very hard for me to assess what the issue is through comments like this. I would need to see it to more clearly understand what you are dealing with. I would recommend having a bow technician look at it, or if you live in my area we can meet up, but trying to help you fix this through a string of comments is not clear enough for me to see what the problem is.
@@seansoutdoors I agree, I was hoping this could be something obvious and specific to the bow. I live in India and I don't really have any support of that sort where I live. But thanks a lot Sean, I'm a step closer thanks to yoke adjustment.
Thanks for the review! How does the dragon 10 compare to the flagship Bear or similar bow? Bear also uses Gordan limbs. I’m looking to upgrade my species EV and I’m torn between getting this and the execute for nearly 3x the price.
The most comparable Bear bow is the Alaskan which also uses a hybrid cam system. The Bear has a much smoother end to the draw cycle but both bows are hard to tune for fixed blade broadheads. I think it has to do with trying to use such a large diameter cam on a hybrid system. The two just don’t seem to be able to be tuned for fixed blades well, at least not for longer draw lengths like mine.
New law is you can’t leave them in over night. You also can’t use any electronic devise to aid in hunting which would include radios, drones or even cell phones.
👍
Is it a law?
It sounds like they have retracted the idea for this year.
Shit I might buy the Cruzer based on its smaller size
👍
@@seansoutdoors do you have more pros and cons regarding either one btw?
@@seansoutdoors for somone who is 5'6" though would still recommend the Legit?
I think the Legit is a little better built. A big difference is in the riser. The Legit has a longer and more robust riser which allows the limbs to be more parallel. This helps a bow be less jumpy when it goes off. If I was buying one or the other, I would personally buy the Legit, but that is just my preference. God bless you.
@@seansoutdoors thank you. Ive read some most posts on other forums and it seems the legit is the consensus better option
Good for IOWA the rest of the states need to do the same thing!!!
👍
It seems like it never ends In Iowa now there supposedly banning party hunting I’m glad I’m not in Iowa
👍
Isn’t that just for non-residents?
No, it was intended for everyone, including residents but it sounds like they have retracted the rule for now.
@@seansoutdoors no, the email from DNR specifically says non-residents
The government thieves waited until everyone bought a few 😂
lol yup hahaha
Where do you put arrow at?
On the arrow rest
Thanks for the video! Got the recurve royal x8 myself, it’s a really well built bow!
👍
What is the tracking range?
That I’m not sure of off hand and I’m traveling without it so can’t check the literature. Might be about 30 feet or so.
Hello Again! We have a house that was built in the 1950's we have vinyl glued to the slab cement and there is mold underneath the vinyl. We have to pull this up but I was told by an environmentalist epoxy would be good..... so you think tile is best still? Appreciate any thoughts.
I’d say if an environmentalist told you that and he or she knows what they are talking about then go with that.
how powerful is that and can it kill a deer?
No I would not hunt with this. The dragon x8 would be the one you could hunt with
How much meat did you get off all the deer you shot
About 50 pounds off an adult doe and much more off adult buck
Hunting over food plots in bait should be banned also
👍
Working on it now. Doesn’t seem to difficult but….. lol.
Lol. Hang in there
I agree with the cell camera ban on public land. Too many people have gotten to the point they just sit around waiting on a picture then walk straight through your setup during prime hunting hours just to get to their camera spot to hunt and blow it for everyone
👍
DNR is getting out of control, crazy!!
Lol.
All things pass.
Amen
It was always illegal to use while actively hunting they dodnt change anything. They are only clarifying the law. I don't understand why everyone keeps saying they changed it. If you want to actually know the law just get ahold of the iowa Dnr and they will clearly tell you that they aren100% illegal on any land public or private while actively hunting.
👍
Is it effed up that I thoroughly enjoyed this? No? Good!
👍
Good video Sean. I get it that they are an advantage. Go Birds! 🦅
👍
My take: Private land can do whatever they want. Public land all cameras should be banned.
I imagine you’re not one who has to hunt public land hahaha. It’s always easier to say that when it doesn’t pertain to you lol.
@@seansoutdoors I only hunt public and just seems like all the pieces of property I frequent are littered with cell cameras. Just one man's opinion and to each their own. Good luck this fall!
Owners of private land also hunt public @seansoutdoors
We need to get you a KC Chiefs jacket, Sean! All the best!
I’m all for it. Andy used to be the coach of the Eagles so I always cheer for them when the Eagles are not on.
Looking forward to the final decision. I can see other states following Iowa's lead if they do outlaw it. Thanks for sharing, Sean.👍🏼
Thanks brother, yeah, I can see it be a ripple effect if that does happen.
A cell trail camera can be on public land and private land to get movement of deer BEFORE the season. You CANNOT use it while you are hunting. They are using it like a CB or Cell Phone to call out where deer are. They don't want someone to use it to immediately locate deer while actively hunting. Just like you can't use a CB to call out where deer are. uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240601/a62f3ffd5a5d73f69e61f70e215fc98e.jpg
For those who think this is a good thing and somehow gives a hunter an unfair advantage then maybe no one is allowed to wear camo clothing because some camo patterns give a hunter an unfair disadvantage over other hunters and the deer have a harder time seeing them! Stay misinformed and let them take away all rights. Anyone ever had a trail camera shoot a deer for them? Asking for a friend!
I’ve had a camera shoot a picture but not an arrow 👍
@@seansoutdoors lol yeah I’m still trying to figure out how this makes hunting not fair chase. You can’t get a pic then run out to your camera and shoot the deer lol. I’ve gotten so many pics but I have never shot a deer because of the camera lol.
Real hunters know that trail cameras don’t get the deer for you and absolutely does not make it unfair in anyway. It’s the same thing as scouting areas to see if you want to hunt those locations. I’m guessing those who think this is a good thing are not true hunters.
👍
I can see the reasoning... BUT.... Public land belongs to all.... Not to the "kings and queens" in gov't. Private land ban... NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!! Game wardens will be going on to private land even MORE than they already do without warrants or actual probable cause.... Just because "they can". You can always say "I am monitoring MY land for trespassers, like.....". Don't doubt me on the latter. They are doing it now and will not stop.
👍
Awesome that’s great.
👍
Doesn't seem fair to apply this to people who don't own land but not to people who do own land.
👍
mine will be out for security
👍
Im sorry but there not gona tell me what i can do on my own land
👍
